PINKTAIL POKE

PINKTAIL POKE

Downtown Market Grand Rapids

The Owner of Fish Lads and Carvers asked a contractor to come up with a design and cost for his new line of market meals, PINKTAIL POKE. The contractor recommended a budget of $50,000, way out of the realm of possibility. Geoff asked me for help. My design approach was in arriving at a cost-effective counter concept that emphasized the branding while complimenting the foods. Discussing my concept drawing with Ryan Oldenburg Carpentry, we selected Baltic Birch cabinet faces with counters and drop panels of solid Beech that served both strength and contemporary design ideas. Welded tube-steel underframes provides great strength. Clear stains in pink and dark grey focuses food choices and products – finished by Knol the Painter. The entire project was completed before the scheduled opening date for under $20,000 including my fee.
